As Kenneth left the jewelry store with the ring, we were the second phone call he made! He wanted to be sure that it would be ok for him to propose during our already scheduled Christmas photo session coming up. Brittany is a photographer herself, so Kenneth knows photos are important to her and wanted to be sure the surprise proposal would be captured beautifully.
The Surprise Proposal
Brittany scheduled her yearly photos with us — we’ve photographed her and her son many times over the years. This little family holds a special place in our hearts, and we love photographing their journey! Brittany is a Cajun girl, born and bred, and Kenneth is pure Texan. Like red-white-and-blue-with-boots-on-topped-with-a-huge-Texas-star-wrapped-in-a-belt-buckle Texan. They have been dating for a while now, so his joining the session wasn’t anything out of the ordinary. This is our first session with the three of them together.
We roamed Lake Martin while capturing the love story between the three of them. We always capture some photos of Brittany and her son together, and also some of her son by himself. This time, we suggested taking a few photos of Brittany and Kenneth alone. Brandon sent up the drone as everyone got settled. As Brittany turned around after walking her son over to the side, Kenneth was down on one knee!! I’m pretty sure she was shocked — and everyone knew about the proposal but her!
She said that on the way to the session, Kenneth played “Diamond in My Pocket” by Cody Johnson, and she never caught on! It was so sweet of him to contact us to be sure this special occasion would be preserved in photos.
