The Story of ToniAnn +Ashton
Neutral Ground has different meanings to different people, and a completely different meaning if you live in New Orleans! Legend has it that in the early days of New Orleans, the French and Spanish could do business between sections of the city standing on the “neutral ground” — and the name stuck. These days, it’s where you have the most fun at Mardi Gras and maybe even meet the love of your life!!! At least that’s where the story begins with ToniAnn and Ashton — Neutral Ground during Mardi Gras just before Endymion. Surrounded by friends.
Family and friends are important to each of them and are a big part of their lives. From family vacations to holiday celebrations — each one significant in their own way. Ashton’s family throws a party every Christmas Eve with both of their families in attendance. One Christmas Eve just so happened to be more special than the rest and everyone knew it except ToniAnn! Even with such a large celebration, they found a way to slip away to exchange gifts – just the two of them – even though ToniAnn thought they could just wait until the end of the night and was a little upset that he was insistent on exchanging gifts in the middle of the party, privately. She quickly realized what was going on as he dropped to one knee and asked her to marry him! They rejoined the celebration and partied the night away – engaged!
The Wedding and Venue
In keeping with their family oriented celebrations, ToniAnn and Ashton’s wedding was no exception. ToniAnn walked down the aisle of St. Peter Church in Bordelonville, La arm in arm with her mother and father. After the sweetest ceremony ever, family and friends gathered to dance the night away! Hilcliffe Farms was transformed into a gorgeous reception space — with music provided by Voodoo Funk and Soul, the big tent rocked while the boucherie smoked in the distance. Their first dance was “Pistol” by Dustin Kensure (performed by cousins). Ashton joined in and serenaded his bride which made for the most romantic first dance ever! Later, a barbershop quartet headed by Ashton’s dad serenaded the bride and groom. This Hilcliffe Farms Wedding was such a heartfelt celebration full of love!
